DIALOGUE | ||||
| ||||
LEO | A
sales-representative of thirty-five.
SAM | Like
Leo, but younger. He speaks at the start
of the play. | |||
ELLA | A
nurse in her early twenties. She wears
dull clothes and has the appearance of and manners of a nice young aunt.
WAITER | Four
lines in the middle of the play.
BEATRICE | A
woman of thirty wearing a vivid red dress. She
has six lines at the end of the play.
SET On the right of the stage is LEO’s flat: a modern sofa with
a telephone on a coffee-table before it, and a large map on the wall behind. The map is made by joining together four ordnance
survey maps. It is dotted with red flags
on little pins and one isolated black flag on a brown patch near the centre.
