Poem: Alasdair Gray © 2005

Who unpick their anatomy
in ecstasy and agony,
can find a self within no part
of backbone, belly, brain or heart.
Selfhood is the unity.

I tried to know a deity
who justified morality
and found a good god cannot fit
the outer void, the inner pit.
God is the iron grid of law upholding the totality
