quiet ... no cars ... no-one near –
... ... ... ... ..hear the gull soaring . . .
on a cold pavement
shoppers shopping ..young girl asks –
a Big Issue, sir . . ?
a beggar ... ... sitting
a boy gives up his big Mac;
two bites ... ... ... burger gone!
an old grey building
crumbles ... ...on the crack’d wall
there ... ... ..a young tree grows . . .

Feel the city beat –
the energy; stone, steel, flesh . . .
and . . . the smell of trees!
face of dejection
an hour late – she’s there – relief
kiss . . . ahh, no dissy . . !
now the town is dark . . .
emptied – hear the chatter as
the young take over.
